New Strategic Plan Launched!

June 10, 2023 - Washington, DC

The City Choir of Washington is pleased to announce the adoption of its new strategic plan. “We are thrilled to have a new strategic plan in place,” says David Flaxman, president of the City Choir of Washington. “Under Artistic Director Erin Freeman’s leadership, the choir has built upon our 15-year foundation of presenting high-quality performances of masterworks—old and new. And we have already embarked on exciting new enterprises, including our pilot program with the National Symphony Orchestra’s Sound Health Initiative and expanded support for our flagship engagement chorus, the City Singers. We are looking forward to implementing our vision of serving as a model organization where artistic excellence, strong community, and positive culture mutually reinforce each other.”

Artistic Director Erin Freeman notes, “As our mission statement says, we are a member-driven organization, and the strategic plan reflects that. It was very important to me that we incorporate the singers’ perspectives, goals, and vision in creating a new strategic plan. The entire chorus had the opportunity to shape and define our mission, vision, and values.” The strategic plan was adopted by the board of directors and will be implemented by the board, artistic director, staff, and volunteers over the next three years.
