Join The City Choir of Washington as we celebrate the musical pageantry of a coronation. This concert will feature the World Premiere Performance of Three Hymns of George Herbert, a major new work by Sir John Tavener that was composed to honor the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Tavener commission was made possible by a generous grant from the London-based Legatum Institute, under the leadership of its President and CEO, Dr. Jeffrey Gedmin.

In addition to the Tavener premiere, the concert will observe the royal anniversary with selections that were performed at the Queen's 1953 Coronation. The performance will feature compositions by Bernstein, Handel, Parry, Purcell, Stanford, Vaughan Williams and Whitacre.
