PARTNERS IN SONG
The City Choir of Washington is committed to nurturing the next generation of performers and audience members. As part of our educational outreach programs each season, we include a talented high school choral group as featured performers in our annual Music for Christmas concert. They perform several selections on their own and also join our singers for part of the program.
YOUNG AMERICAN ARTISTS PROGRAM
Each season, The City Choir of Washington presents one or more emerging performers from the Washington metropolitan area as featured soloists in one of our concerts. These vocalists are selected through a comprehensive audition process for young singers from throughout the region. In addition to performing on our concert, each Young American Artist will receive private coaching from Maestro Robert Shafer.
COLLEGIATE INTERNSHIPS
As part of its 2011-2012 Fifth Anniversary Season, TCCW initiated a new Collegiate Internships program that is designed to provide support, guidance and performance opportunities for young artists currently engaged in performance, conducting or composition studies at local universities. The Collegiate Interns attend weekly City Choir rehearsals and sing in the season concerts as members of the chorus. Each Collegiate Intern also receives individual coaching sessions from Robert Shafer. The students’ individual talents are showcased in our concerts whenever possible, including opportunities to perform as a soloist, conduct a selection, or have a new composition publicly performed by TCCW.
